Annual insured salary

As a rule, this corresponds to the part of the salary subject to AHV/AVS contributions. Communicated to PUBLICA by your employer. 

 
Benchmark

Reference value or measure against which the performance (success) of an investment, investment category or portfolio is measured. If the benchmark is an index, it is also known as a reference index. 

Board of Directors

PUBLICA's supreme governing and supervisory body. Comprises an equal number of employer and employee representatives. 

BVG/LPP

Federal Act on Occupational Old Age, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans 

BVG/LPP minimum interest rate

Set by the Federal Council. Applicable to the minimum retirement pension under the BVG/LPP

 
Closed pension plans

The closed pension plans consist only of pension recipients. 

Collective institution

Collective institutions run separate company pension plans for different employers. PUBLICA is one such collective institution. 

Company pension plan

An individual pension plan comprising the employer, employees and pension recipients. The Federal Administration, the ETH Domain, Swissmedic, etc. form company pension plans that are affiliated with the collective institution PUBLICA. 

Conversion rate

The discount rate used to convert your retirement assets into your pension upon retirement. Depends on your age at the time of retirement. Also used to calculate disability benefits and, in part, survivors' benefits. 

Coordination amount

The part of the annual insured salary that is not insured with PUBLICA. Used to coordinate benefits between the 1st and the 2nd pillars.
